Cameron Burns is going places. He’s fighting for his club, his Mum, his place in the world. And this boy is a natural. He has an affinity with the violence, the balance, the ritual, the grace, and the power of the most controversial sport of our time.
Bryony Lavery’s heart-wrenching and deeply human story follows five young fighters as they aim for the bright lights, far from Glasgow’s mean, grey streets.
This knockout production is spectacularly staged, drawing its audience into the heart of the action, where every jab, hook and uppercut feels flinchingly realistic.
Featuring a stunning backdrop of glittering video screens and a pulsating soundtrack by electronic heavyweights Underworld, Beautiful Burnout packs an almighty, and unforgettable punch.
See you ringside.
“This is stunning. Literally and metaphorically” Independent on Sunday – Five stars
“Beautiful Burnout is spectacular, lyrical and thought-provoking”
The Scotsman – Four stars
“A brilliantly acted exploration of what makes boxers box and what happens when a shooting star shimmers, shines brightly and falls to earth” The Guardian – Four stars
Beautiful Burnout contains strong language, therefore an age guide of 14+ is recommended. The production will feature strobe lights, haze and loud music.
Running Time: 90 minutes no interval

I AM BRINGIng MY SON TO SEE BEAUTIFUL BURNOUT TO SUPPORT HIS A LEVEL DRAMA STUDIES. DO YOU HAVE ANY PRE OR AFTER SHOW TALKS OR EDUCATION PACKS AVAILABLE TO ASSIST HIM PLEASE?
LORRAINE GREGORY-RING at 5:25pm on Tue 3rd Jul 2012
Dear Lorraine,
Many thanks for your comment.
The post-show talk is on Wed 10 Oct (there are limited tickets available for that performance so please do book early to avoid disappointment).
We don't have education packs available just yet but if anything comes through from the company we will be sure to post it here - so do keep checking this page.
We hope you and your son enjoy the show.
Best wishes,
Jan

Lorraine,
I would also suggest your son gets a copy of the Frantic Assembly Book of Devising Theatre (can order online from Amazon). It would be a great support for his studies as well as give him insight into the company's working process.
Best wishes, Pema

Hi,
Roughly what time is the Wednesday 10th Oct production likely to finish and how long will the Post-production talk last?
Many thanks in advance
Kirsty

Hi Kirsty,
The show is due to finish at 9pm on Wednesday, after which there will be a short break of 10-15 mins before the post-show talk begins. Unfortunately, the length of the talk depends on how many questions get asked by the audience! But we envisage that it will finish no later than 10pm.
I hope this helps,
Best wishes,

HAY,
I came to see this with my A-level drama group. This was insightful and quite frankly the best acting I have seen for a while. It was fast paced and really did make me feel that I knew what it would like to be a boxing, in the mind set. I think if there was an interval it would have ruined the tension of the show. Just like a boxer, the audience can not have a break from boxing!
