Our Boys Dancing project is in the middle of its most ambitious activity yet – making six dance films with over 50 groups of lads across the West Midlands. The Quiet Man Suite will be completed by mid July in time for screening on the BBC City Centre Live Sites across the country, with a strong presence on the internet too.
The first three films have finished shooting in such outlandish locations as an RAF base in Shropshire, Kidderminster Harriers football stadium (thanks lads!) and a tiny mediaeval church in the middle of nowhere!! Editing is going on apace, and the music composition has already started on at least one of them. Look out for the premieres of these three films! Each area partner will host their own world premiere of the film from their boys, so watch this space for dates and times.
In the meantime the preparation work in Dudley, Sandwell and Staffordshire for the other three films that will make up the Suite have begun, and footage from the devising workshops with the lads point to some more adventurous and unique films. The shooting begins very soon, so good luck lads!
Of course, as soon as everything is finished they’ll be posted on our website, which is likely to be sometime in late July. Just in time for the Olympics. Perfect.
