I have always been wary of membership schemes but I think we may have come up with something that works in everyone’s favour. The Film Membership for Warwick Arts Centre gives you a complimentary ticket from the outset and saves you more money the more you use it. The more you use it, the more great films you get to see on the big screen. There are other discounts on Arts Centre events and facilities and we have the chance to talk to each other more. An independent cinema is selective about what it shows but it only remains selective as long as it has your support. Membership helps us keep popcorn and fizzy drinks out of the auditorium and helps us sustain discussion and talks programmes and work with schools and colleges.
In a time when audiences are being encouraged to watch films on credit card sized screens on their mobile phone, it helps to be reminded of what cinema is and how it feels to be engulfed by movies.
