Last Wednesday’s artist-led drawing workshop was a great success. We learnt various different drawing tecniques from an accomplished illustrator. From drawing with our eyes closed, to perspective, and proprtion. We drew with a pen in each hand, so the left hand follows the right as a mirror image, and copied each other’s portraits with the paper upside down, to create ‘correct’ copies. I found it incredible interesting and helpful.
When drawing the model, we looked at drawing the negative space around the model, so you ended up with her as a ghost-like figure, but in proportion, It helped to understand that you don’t just draw the subject but need to take into consideration, all the spaces around and background…
It was interesting to learn about the tutors’ struggles with various health issues, such as temporary blindness, where he used various tecniques to keep his visual memory in order.
Please respond to this blog to leave feedback if you attended the session, and also if you didn’t attend but would be interested in future sessions.

Was just browsing the Arts Centre site and came across this. Wish I'd known about it at the time - sounds interesting and fun. If you are running another session, please let me know.
PS: One grouse. The Arts Centre is in Coventry. Why is this never mentioned? I have known a Radio4 presenter/journalist go to the town of Warwick to search for it - in vain.

Hi Delia.
I am currently looking at a regular drawing workshop for adults. We do the regular family ones, but have had a great response from adults attending our one off workshops. I am currently trying to see how much interest we would have on a regular slot, so please keep checking the website for updates.
With regards to the Arts Centre being in Coventry, the address is at the bottom of the website, but I can see how it can be confusing, being called Warwick Arts Centre. I'll pass on your concerns to the Marketing Department.
Thanks
