Exciting initiative Holding Space creates new opportunities for West Midlands theatre producers
Tuesday 18 September 2012
In an exciting collaboration between five key West Midland venues, a new theatre initiative entitled Holding Space is looking for submissions. Funded by the Arts Council, Holding Space is a pilot project for 2013, seeking to open up new opportunities for producers in order to help them develop their skills, increase their profile and meet greater audiences. Warwick Arts Centre is proud to be part of this exciting development programme, alongside Birmingham Repertory Theatre, Black Country Touring, mac: birmingham, and Stan’s Cafe.
An exciting project, Holding Space offers five different schemes for West Midlands theatre makers to be a part of. Bursaries offer producers the opportunity to develop new skills in delivering work in a range of contexts, considering marketing, audience development, the wants and needs of diverse audiences. There will also be Micro and Full Commissions for long-form productions and short, non-venue based work, as well as a Digital Commission to get theatre-makers engaging with digital media in their work. Finally, a scheme entitled Theatre Fever will be engaging with the idea of marketing for local theatre productions, in an attempt to widen the reach of the arts within the local area.
If you’re involved in West Midlands theatre and might be interested in taking part in one of the schemes, then move quick as the closing date for applications is Sun 30 Sep.
