New Events On Sale - Steve Hughes, Mulatu Astatke and more!
Wednesday 04 July 2012
After we let you take a peek at some of the events in our vibrant Autumn programme last week, we are pleased to announce that we have even more treats in store with a number of new events on sale today.
World music lovers can rejoice in the knowledge that Ethiopia’s most famed musician Mulatu Astatke will join us in November to perform his fresh and unique material. Devon Sproule also joins us all the way from Canada to deliver an inspiring take on folk-pop, playing a mix of new material and songs from the Coventry-based Tin Angel Records release I Love You, Go Easy.
One of Britain’s finest poets Andrew Motion will be reading from his stunning new collection of poems, The Custom House.
Our Comedy programme also sees some welcome additions. Following his sell-out shows earlier in the year, we are delighted to announce the return of the inimitable Australian comic and ex heavy metal drummer Steve Hughes. Also, Radio 4 favourite Jeremy Hardy brings his latest show and early next year a brand new musical comedy will be created from scratch Showstopper! The Improvised Musical.
There are fairytales for grown-ups and younger audiences alike in The Three Snake Leaves which weaves together lesser known tales from the Brothers Grimm for adults with an appetite for brilliant storytelling, and a new production of Rapunzel for 3-7s.
Finally, Ellen Kent returns in 2013 with the most seductive opera ever written, starring international mezzo soprano Nadia Stoianova – Carmen is now on sale!
