Elder's Dance: Out of Whack
Out of Whack is an Elders’ Dance Company for people aged 60+ who share a love of contemporary dance and performing! They are a company of mixed experience dancers – from beginners to those who have danced through their lives.
Molly Wright choreographs classes that are creatively challenging and inspiring. They build on one another, leading to the creation of new dance pieces for public performance.
Out of Whack is a supportive and friendly group of people who enjoy movement, socialising and performing.
Taking inspiration from London’s thriving elders’ dance scene, Out of Whack’s ambition is to develop a network in the Midlands and to join the growing movement of elders’ dance companies coming together across the UK.
In Autumn 2024, Out of Whack are taking part in two programmes of work:
- An October block of 5 sessions on the 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th from 6pm - 7.30pm with company director, Molly Wright. This is a chance for the company to dance together and get focused, ready for working with Liz Aggiss throughout November. You can attend these sessions without going on to take part in the November programme. Cost £45
- A November project with renowned choreographer Liz Aggiss which will take place across 10 days from 10am – 4pm (3rd, 4th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 16th, 17th, 18th, 24th, 25th ) with a performance on Sat Nov 30th in our Studio to celebrate Warwick Arts Centre’s 50th anniversary. This will be a challenging and intensive programme that will celebrate age and include lots of breaks throughout the days! Cost £90
Taster Session:
New starters can attend a taster session on the first week to see if this company is the right fit before officially joining in the second week and paying for the term – for Autumn 2024, this only applies to the October sessions. Please email Lynsey on to book your taster session.
To take part in the November project with Liz Aggiss, you must either be an existing member of Out of Whack or a new starter who is also taking part in the October sessions.
Booking:
You can book online. Alternatively, returning members can book their space by contacting Box Office on 024 7649 6000. New members will be able to do the same in the second week, after attending the taster session.
Important: To book for the November project with Liz Aggiss, you must either be an existing member of Out of Whack or take part in the October sessions.
Commitment:
All members will need to be committed to attending the weekly sessions to ensure a quality experience for themselves but also for the other members of the company.
Although sickness and life does get in the way, so there is some flexibility, we are asking that if members of the company subscribe to the programme, they try to prioritise the sessions and ensure that they can make the performance date.
