Hold Your Own - A Day of Elders' Dance
Tickets: £5
Our annual day of Elders' Dance is back!
This day of dance platforms new works created by Elders’ Dance companies across the country. By showcasing this work, the event aims to actively change preconceptions of older people’s dance, bringing attention to the positive presence of older people and their contributions to society. Previous partners have included Damn Fine Dance (London), Dancemind’s Dance Elders (Northamptonshire), The Hub Dance Company (Lichfield).
This year we are thrilled to announce that Third Bite (Sheffield) will be our partner for 2025!
Out of Whack will be premiering a new performance titled Echoes, alongside their show Busted! Third Bite will perform its brilliant piece titled THE FALLEN.
Here’s some more info about all three performances:
Out Of Whack - Echoes
A Park Bench is a place for reflection,
A place to stop, to notice.
Inspired by Nino Pedretti’s Nobody will know, dancers take the time to reflect on their memories, moments, and places in time that have stayed with them. Directed by choreographer Molly Wright, this is a new and thought-provoking piece from Out Of Whack.
THE FALLEN – Third Bite
THE FALLEN is the latest creation from Third Bite Dance, a bold and powerful new performance that explores the physical, emotional and metaphorical theme of falling.
Through a captivating blend of movement, spoken word, and imagery, THE FALLEN invites audiences to witness a visceral exploration of the embodied experiences of ageing, from the loss of physical strength to the personal and societal struggles that come with it. Age is not only about physical decline but about falling in and out of love, falling into despair as our bodies and minds change, and falling in love again with our creativity. As a company of older adult performers take to the stage, THE FALLEN rises from the groundedness of their bodies, capturing the full spectrum of human emotion.
Choreographed by Third Bite Dance Artistic Director Lucy Haighton in collaboration with the company, the work focuses on the experiences of older adults, centering the lived experience of those often overlooked or misunderstood in mainstream performances.
Out of Whack is Busted!
This show is out of whack.
This show is busted.
Defective.
Flawed.
Great news for all of those who like their contemporary dance neat and tidy!
Directed by Liz Agiss, this group striked out, gift wrapped and ripped open, whilst flailing and failing in lifes flaws, as they judder and shudder towards the finish line.
Party on dudes!
