Walter Salles makes a triumphant return with this emotionally layered, visually rich account of life under an oppressive regime in 1970s Brazil.

Winner of Best International Feature at the Oscars, I’m Still Here sees the Paiva family shattered when Ernesto is abducted by the military junta and Eunice (a magnificent, Golden Globe-winning performance from Brazilian actor Fernanda Torres) must lead their family and fight for justice. Salles’ adaptation of Marcelo Rubens Paiva’s 2015 memoir is a profoundly moving portrait of resistance, an intelligent and humane work of the kind we have come to expect from the director of Central Station and The Motorcycle Diaries.
