Join us for an hour of marimba music, by the talented Tom Hall.

Tom was first introduced to percussion through his secondary school music programme in Shropshire, where he quickly developed a passion for its uniqueness and versatility.

Deciding to pursue a professional career, Tom enrolled at the Royal Northern College of Music where he completed a Bachelors and Masters degree. Moving forward, he now enjoys a busy career as a freelance percussionist around the country.

As a soloist, he has been successful in a number of acclaimed competitions, including 1st Prize at the International Young Musician of the Future, and the UK Young Musician of the Year, as well as 2nd Prize at the International Young Percussionist of the Year and a Finalist in the inaugural BBC Young Musician of the Year.

Tom has enjoyed performing with a variety of professional ensembles, most recently appearing with The Hallé, Opera North, British Sinfonietta, Northern Opera Group, Ensemble 360 and the BBC Concert Orchestra. He is a previous Britten Pears Young Artist and BCMG Next Artist, where he performed world premiere works by established and up-and-coming composers.

Tom is hugely grateful to be supported by organisations including Help Musicians UK, the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM), the Wolfson Foundation, the RNCM John Fewkes Scholarship and The Haberdashers Company.
