A widow-turned-police officer investigates a troubling murder in Sandhya Suri’s fiction feature debut.
After her constable husband is killed on the job in remote northern India, Santosh (Shahana Goswami) assumes his role. When a teenage Dalit girl is found murdered, igniting protests in the community, she joins the case alongside a new female superior. A deft thriller interrogating hierarchies of gender, caste, religion and class in rural India, Santosh combines a complex character study with searing social critique.
