Based on a shocking Hong Kong criminal case, Philip Young’s elegantly crafted Papa is a moving study of grief and redemption.

In Hong Kong, a mother and her daughter are brutally killed and the family’s 15-year-old son is identified as the murderer. Yuen (Sean Lau), the husband and father of the victim and father of the murderer, observes the trial and faces his imprisoned son to find out what caused this tragedy. Philip Yung is known for work that realistically captures Hong Kong – including his multi award-winning 2015 drama Port of Call. Depicting a father and son in an extreme situation, Papa shifts in time.
