A widower travels from Japan to Lake Windermere to honour his late wife in this tender, elegiac drama.

On holiday in Windermere in the 1960s, Akiko (Tae Kimura) was enchanted by Beatrix Potter’s stories. After her death from Alzheimer’s, her husband Kenzaburo (Lily Franky) is given a letter she wrote in the early stages of her diagnosis asking him to scatter her ashes in the Lake District. He invites their son, Toshi (Ryo Nishikido) to join him on this emotional expedition, but feels constrained by Toshi’s timetable. Soon, the old man is off on his own, pedalling around the English countryside without a map.
