An Evening of Indian Percussion: Presenting the Jori and Tabla
Tickets: £10
An evening of percussion from the traditions of India, performed by Jasandeep Singh, Narayan Lallie (Jori) and Narinderjit Lallie (Tabla).
The Jori drum is a traditional percussion instrument used for hundreds of years in India.
Its deep penetrating sounds inspire and bring motivation and energy to a space.
In this evening you have the opportunity to listen to two drums in duet.
The Tabla drum, younger in age compared to the Jori - has more musical range of sounds and allows the instrument to lend itself to a highly varied range of applications. You will see and hear how both left and right drum are complimentary to each other. The Benaras style of tabla played by Narinderjit is very dynamic and colourful.
