Our award-winning Warwick Christmas Lectures return!

Join Ally Caldecote and some of our favourite scientists, mathematicians and engineers from the University of Warwick who are leaving their labs to entertain, inspire and amaze audiences. Bring your family and friends, pull on your festive jumper and join us for an evening of mind-boggling science and explosive experiments!

We’ll have Live Labs with Warwick Institute of Engagement in our foyer spaces from 5.30pm, so you can get up close and hands on with real-life science before the Christmas Lectures begin.

Monday 25 November

Could we build a ladder to the stars? Did you know that you can grow diamonds in a lab? Why are we afraid of ghosts (or anything for that matter)?

Join Professor Andrew Levan, Kai Ross, Dr Dawn Collins and Ally Caldecote as they share the answers to these questions and explore astronomy, neuroscience and the material properties of the hardest (and sparkliest) substance on earth.

Monday 2 December

Can science and engineering help you be the best keepy-uppy player in the world? How many Christmas presents could you fit inside the Butterworth Hall? Do volcanoes get a bad press? Surprising discoveries with Dr Phil Jemmett, Fiona Kitchen, Dr Edward Loveman, Dr Katie Reeves and Ally Caldecote as they look into Volcanology, clever ways to answer very difficult questions and… well… how to be really good at keepy-uppy.

The Christmas Lectures is a collaboration between Warwick Arts Centre, University of Warwick’s Department of Physics and China Plate Theatre. With thanks to the Warwick Institute of Engagement for the Live Labs.
