Conductor: Alexandre Bloch
Piano Cédric Tiberghien

Farrenc: Overture in Eb Major
Ravel: Piano Concerto in G
Berlioz: Symphonie Fantastique

Recommended Age:
Suitable for all

A night dedicated to French music, with Hector Berlioz's five-part Symphonie Fantastique - an epic (and semi-autobiographical) tale of unrequited love that shocked and wowed audiences in 1830, when it was premiered.

Plus Maurice Ravel's entertaining piano concerto, and opening with a vivacious concert overture by pioneering 19th century female composer/ musician, Louise Farrenc.

Admired for his musicality and enthusiasm, Alexandre Bloch (Music Director of Orchestre National de Lille) conducts the northern powerhouse. Joining him is fellow Frenchman, pianist Cédric Tiberghien, whose Ravel Piano Concertos (with François-Xavier Roth and Les Siècles) was shortlisted for a 2023 Gramophone Award.

Pre-Concert Talk

Before the concert there will be a pre-concert talk for £5 (£2.50 for Orchestral Package bookers). If you'd like to attend, you can book this directly via Box Office. More details about the talk to follow!
